METAL LATHING

Preface

Macro-Mesh metal lathing is manufactured to BS1369: Part 1: 1987 in a range of weights.

It provides an excellent key for finishing materials on masonry, ceilings, suspended ceilings and timber frame buildings. This material is designed mainly as a background plaster reinforcement to minimize cracking.

Plasterwork on metal lathing offers a smooth, hygienic, monolithic surface giving it complete access to decorating. It also provides sound insulation and fire protection.

Commercial applications include partitioning, suspended ceilings and encasement of steelwork.

INSTALLATION GUIDE

  • Fix LWM from support to support.
  • Timber joists – Nail at angle away from centre to tighten up the lath. Repeat every 100mm (4”).
  • Steel channels – Use wire ties. Fixing sequence is same as in timber joists.
  • Overlapping – Sheets ends should overlap 50mm (2”) on bearers, and side laps should not be less than 25mm (1”). All laps should be wired together at 150mm (6”) intervals.
